Volunteer Services Overseas

Happy New Year to all and may Peace Prevail on Earth!

I have recently become one of the assessment officers volunteering with VSO (Volunteer Services Overseas) and have increased my awareness of wonderful work that is being done all over the world. It is a humbling experience to be with such amazing human beings who volunteer their time around the world helping in development areas. This experience is enriching my life and inspiring me to consider similar work in my future. I hope you will take a look for yourself and feel the joy that their gifts have brought to the world. here are some examples of areas they are looking for:

If you are a fundraiser with two years' experience, some of the world’s poorest nations need your skills. Recently we have received a large number of requests from our overseas partners for fundraisers, in countries such as Zambia, South Africa and India. Using your skills you’ll help overseas organisations to maximise their income generating strategies and ensure their development and sustainability.
Necessary qualifications and experience
You’ll need a degree in any subject or a related professional qualification, combined with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience. Knowledge of developing fundraising strategies and writing funding proposals are essential. You’ll be experienced in identifying new donors and maintaining existing relationships, as well as developing the communication materials.
Types of opportunity available
Most of our requests come from small non-government organisations and involve developing income generation schemes, such as orchestrating fundraising events, including donor management, the delivery of donor communications and proposal development. Organisations in need of your skills tend to be focused around the area of HIV and AIDS, but we do receive from request from organisations in a variety of sectors.
